A new report from Climate Council reveals how climate policy – and voter rejection of climate denial – played a role in the ALP’s historic election victory last weekend.
The analysis shows labor’s support grew in electorates where offshore wind and renewable energy were key issues. Pro-climate independents also won a 3.8% increase in their primary vote in contested seats.
Voter appetite for stronger climate targets and renewables took a backseat in the election campaign but proved to be a decisive battleground.
